Delio Regueral: A natural Rebel and Artist. This is who he is.
Although that may not be a complete description of his life and personality, it pretty much sums it up.
Born in revolutionary Cuba in 1964, Delio never really knew what freedom was until he was allowed to leave his country in his early 20’s. Once he found out what that feeling was, his true spirit came about and spectacular things started to happen with his companion, the Nikon F2. An analog machine that is known as a camera.
With this camera, Delio began his journey as a storyteller. Now, with more than 30 years of experience, Delio still takes advantage of any opportunity to tell it his way. There is no barrier between him and his camera and a subject. Each subject enjoys being cemented into history because Delio tells it like it is.
With a formal education in photography that began when Delio was almost killed in a motorcycle accident, Delio was able to polish his skills and begin to divert into his own path. He realized that the doors he had to walk through, had his name written all over them.
Delio’s work includes abstract work, portraits, light painting, conceptual photography, still life, nudes and poli-conceptual work. The camera to Delio, is a pen to a writer. He finds inspiration in works by Henry Cartier-Bresson, Robert Mapplethorpe,….. and,….
Delio first began his photographic career in Spain right after leaving Cuba, where he married and had his first 2 children. After 10 years of unsuccessful ventures, he decided to take his chances in the United States of America, the land of the free and home of the brave. Today he is known for his own way of depicting life through photography.
